First - While XP Pro is NOT a sever product, it does contain IIS (unlike XP Home) and you can create multiple sites with it and those sites can have different permissions

Second - You must give all the proper permissions to the virtual directory also if you are going that way.....don't forget the Network Service

Third - I created my database manually first.  Under this method the TABLES are created automatically (which are different from the database itself)

I couldn't agree with that more!  I'm no guru by any stretch of the imiganation but by god I'd hate to see some duffer try to install this!  My third computer was an Apple II, I built my first two from kits, and I've been working with computers since the mid 70's.  So far I've found nothing from MS to simple, or easy!

Being a "duffer" I can totally agree with you guys.   I don't want to bitch, because this seems like a great community and you can't argue with free software. 

Is this really (deep down now) only for .NET and ASP gurus to use? If it is running it looks easy as hell, but getting it running has been a bitch.

If anyone on the core team is reading this, some small bone tossed to us newbies (required reading list before attempting this...) would be nice, as well as a stripped down web.config file and instructions for "Easy Install" for we who just have SQLExpress and XPPro

If it helps, I know my problems all seemed to give decent errors from the ./Install/Install.aspx page along the way and I was able to muddle through.  Now I just screwed up my admin and host logins and can't get back in.  LOL.
