Hi all,

On www.cmsmatrix.org, DotNetNuke is listed as having "Static Content Export" which is defined by the popup as: "Does the system have the ability to export its content as static html so that it may be served up from regional cache servers or from static html web servers?" The answer is yes to this question for DNN. My question then is where is this in the software and where can I find out more about it?

As always, thanks in advance!

I'm not sure who put that data into the site, but I must admit that all of the features seem to be very iffy. There is an export utility, however, I don't think it's implemented to the letter of what CMS Matrix is intending it to be. I noticed a number of other places where this is true. I will say that to answer no to that question would be partially incorrect - just as much as answering yes.

To answer your question, if you go to Host > Portals, you can export a portal's content to a template. This is an XML file that can be manipulated and/or scripted to get HTML content, depending on how your site was managed. Again, not to the letter, but it does fit in that general area.

1. AFAIR ErikVB is looking after the entry in CMSMatrix.org.

2. DotNetNuke has export abilities on module level and portal level, both requiring, that the modules used support the iPortable interface. I remember, that there was also announced a tool for exporting static versions of web sites, but I never tried it.

I'm interested in exporting static HTML from DNN.

Although I don't think static HTML is efffective to SEO/SEM, some web master believe static HTML is effective. Therefore, lots of CMS support exporting static HTML. In this situation, exporting to site template XML is not fit.

Does anyone know the way to export static HTML from DNN?

Thanks in advance,
Masami

Export to XML and use an XSL file to convert that to HTML. If that doesn't solve what you want, there's always the handy-dandy File > Save As...
