I was wondering if anyone has implemented DNN on a bank website. I am getting ready to write a proposal for a samll bank and would like to use a bankning website as a reference of its functionality.

Thanks in advance

Cool attempt .... but be aware that any person publicity saying a certain bank site was built in dotnetnuke is making this a risk by letting people know so ..... as soon as vunerabilities gets know people like to try them on such clients as banks .... the bank wouldn't like this risk to be known so thats why you don't hear anybody saying thi .... but in my opinion it would be very fine to make a website for a small bank based on dotnetnuke ... be sure to add/offer them a good service contract with them because it is not nice to leave a client like that alone with a old not updated website ... that could happen if you don't charge them money to look after them in the long run

Hardtime:

DNN is a solid platform on which to build Web sites of many different kinds.  I would suggest that you recommend to your customer (the bank) to buy the Professional version of DNN.  I don't have experience with it yet but the bank in question seems to be a good fit for it, and then you can tell us about your experience.

Regarding Johan's warning of not advertising the fact that DNN will be used, I can see why he is recommending that but I would not worry about it.  First, because DNN has proven to be pretty solid as far as its security and second, because it is very easy for the bad guys to find out what kind of technology a given site is using.  As usual, you have to follow best security practices for the configuration of the server, IIS, and SQL Server.

Thank you for your replies I really appreciate it.

I agree that security for any website is of utmost importance and even the likes of British Telecom, Midas Hertz, Cincinnati Bell, to name but a fiew from the scrolling marquee on the DNN home page would not like to have their website’s ravaged by hackers either.

In the case of our implementation the DNN portal would only, I’ll say it twice for dramatic effect, would only be used on the public information only portion of the site and NOT the online-banking portion of the site which will be handled by another development team properly equipped to manage the challenges surrounding a system like that. So the only tie to the online banking portion of the site will be in the form of a click here to go to online banking.

Our team has developed 8 DNN commercial sites in the last 2 years and has had a lot of success with them. My inquiry was driven by that one guy on your management team that has to question every decision that you make for I don’t know what reason and I was hoping to say see here is a site that has used this fine tool.

Thanks to all of you DNN users for looking at my post.
