Folks,

I'm new to DNN but familiar with VB.net and VS2005 and the related technologies. I have installed DNN on WIN2008 and got it up and running. I want to know from the experienced developers if this is even possible with DNN

(1) I'm trying to build a community site (i'm the admin)

(2) Allow members to signup.

I know DNN can do this much

(3) When a user signs up they get their own website/space with something like www.somewebsite.com/newuser

(4) On their newuser website they can do the usual add commnets, blog, upload pic, music,videos....etc....

So, in brief a community site. Is this possible on a DNN framework or do I need to purchase additional modules...

Any guidance is appreciated.....Just show me the way...

(1) and (2) is included out of the box, for other options there are 3rd party solutions (free Smart Thinker Suite from Rodney Joyce @ www.smart-thinker.com, ActiveSocial from www.activemodules.com and Social Networking Package from www.venexus.com).

 I have a similar question.

I think of DNN as a way to use ASP.Net to deploy a social networking style website. With all the modules I see in the Forge section and on Code Plex I have yet to find a community supported and developed Profile module for DNN. Why doesn't DNN have a Profile (style) module in the Forge section? I appreciate the 3 links listed above. I tried using Smart Thinker. I like what they have done with Smart Thinker, but it doesn't do what I need for my website. I think I know enough to customize a module for my purposes (That is still to be proven hehe).

Thanks for your thoughts.

please be aware, that DotNetNuke framework includes a customizable user profile out of the box - though I admin that there is room for improvement.

What is the name of the out of the box module? I haven't noticed it yet. I am glad to hear it exist.

Thanks
