I'm asking because I'm comparing CMS/Portal/LMS applications for use by myself and to recommend to clients. It sounds like what's being said is basically that DNN is a framework. I understand about adding modules but my initial impression is that many modules are fee based AND it's difficult to determine what security risks are introduced by each module. Are there core modules that come with the initial DNN installation? If so, what are they?
My current quest is to find a CMS that uses MS SQL, that can manage view permissions by groups of users to categories of content, especially multi-page articles with threaded, spam protected, commenting and rating.
When I began I didn't anticipate my small list of criteria to be difficult to fulfill, but it is. PHP/mySQL apps have the features but not the permissions by groups to categories of content. Some .Net/Fee Based apps have the type of permissions I seek but get very expensive very quickly to match feature/functionality.
On a minor note, I like that this text editor includes style selectors but, although I've had "Notification" selected since my intial post, I've received no notifications of replies to my original post.
