We have just brought the site back up under build 739 and we seem to have resolved our immediate performance concerns.  We still have some testing and monitoring to do and we also have some additional updates we will be making tomorrow which should improve things even more.

We recognize that this has been a painful week for the whole community and appreciate everyone's patience as we worked through the issues.  For all of our supporters out there, thank you for your continued confidence.  You can be assured that there are a lot of lessons learned in this episode and we'll be aggressively putting processes and systems in place to help us better deal with these situations in the future.

We will debrief tomorrow as long as it holds.

Over the course of the last week a number of us have been involved with the problems.

If we have any definitive answers we will let the community know.

Congratulations on getting the site restored, seems to be running pretty quickly! (mktoresp seems to be the slower atm)

I can't wait for the details of the issue and what was required to get it resolved. Hopefully all the technical details will be included, also looks like the site is now running under IIS7 and I wonder what else might have been upgraded during the mess. Anyways, hopefully you all get to sleep in tomorrow morning, most certainly earned it.

 Oliver,

We'll certainly be publishing data on what we changed to get the site performance back up to something we can be proud of, although it likely won't happen until next week after we have had a chance to get caught back up on our sleep and spend a little time with our families.

Joe, yes, get some sleep first, this must have been an extremely stressful situation for all of you. I vividly remember being in such a hard place with one of our servers almost two months ago. It is horrible. So for all community members: please show some consideration.
