Hello,

I upgraded to dNN 4.9.4 on the 31st of May due to the very serious caching bug that was showing blank content to spiders (my PageRank of 5 which I had for 3 years dropped to 4 and has not been restored since - who knows how much traffic I lost too).

I just checked the Google Page Cache and it seems that it still is not seeing all my content on PokerDIY:

  1. Should I be worried about this?
  2. How can I clear the Google Cache so it gets a fresh copy with all data?

Hi Rodney

I've never tried this (use at your own risk!), but you might try this link for removing cache by adding a meta tag and resubmit the site map with google web tools.

http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35306

Once "clear" you could remove the meta tag and then resubmit again.

And I'm sure you must be aware by now of this issue:

When 5.1.1 is out you might be able to rip an extensive app_browsers file and throw it into your 4.x install should you not wish to upgrade... and then try the above procedure.

Just my thoughts... anybody else have better recommendations?

I've done further research, my advice isn't that good. All that will do is hide the cache, not delete it. I would say wait for 5.1.1, update the browsers file (with 5.1.1 version) or upgrade to 5.1.1 and then resubmit the sitemap. All I can think of anyway.

Thanks Alex - but was this issue not supposed to be fixed in 4.9.4? It's quite worrying if it is still an issue as it means all sites pre DNN 5 will be suffering traffic loss/PR loss etc.

Rodne,

AFAIK there is no option to request google cache to be updated. to test, whether the problem exist, I would set module caching for the most important content temporarily to "0" and observer, how google cache gets updated. Please report your findings.
