I noticed you are using extreme values for caching - did you notice any app recycles e.g. taking place, before the cache expires)?

I haven't noticed an app recycle - is this logged somewhere so I can check how many times it recycles?

I've changed all the modules that had a cache time of over 400 (the majority are on 12000 as I wanted it to be "as long as possible" to 236 (the one on the home page is 350 and is appearing).

We'll have to wait a day to see if this helps...

Ok, 5 hours later and Google has already updated to the latest version of the page with all modules now appearing:

http://64.233.161.104/search?ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-06,GGLD:en&q=cache:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pokerdiy.com

Some of the sub pages have not been updated yet but I'll keep checking...

http://64.233.161.104/search?ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-06,GGLD:en&q=cache:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pokerdiy.com/find-poker.aspx

Strangely enough when you view the page with the GoogleBot UserAgent it still shows the missing content????

Ok, I have made some progress. I opened up Safari and changed the UserAgent to "Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.google.com/bot.html)" (FF was caching old versions).

On my Find Poker page I changed the main blurb HTML mod back to 12000 cache time. Everything else on the site that was above 400 was reset to 346 using SQL.

I then switched the UserAgent on Safari and everything on that page appears EXCEPT the main blurb (title - Find all things to do with poker)...  you can replicate yourself by using a User Agent switcher on DNN 4.9.4 and fiddling with cache times (I have not tested any other site). If you are on DNN 4.9.4 and like high cache times I strongly suggest you investigate ASAP.

It looks like that is the culprit.

So... the quick solution is to change all your module cache times to a lower number-  I don't know what but 350 and below works. 12000 does not. I would love to hear from the core team about this - mainly what version was this introduced from (I am trying to work out how long Google has been seeing no content on my site!)

I noticed this issue on dotnetnuke.com in the beginning of May and I reported it multiple times to members of the corp. I noticed it was resolved sometime around the upgrade to the 5.1.x builds. I never heard back on the cause, or the fix they implemented to resolve the issue, I can only assume it was related to the final 5.1.0 builds that had quite a few of adjustments to the caching interface and the event logging for debugging cache related issues.

Unfortunately without clarification of the issue from the corp, I'd recommend testing out an upgrade to 5.1.0 as I think that might be the quickest fix at the moment. If you need any help upgrading your custom modules for DNN5, let me know as I'd be happy to help.

Oliver - Do you have a gemini issue #.  That is the only way we have of "reporting to members of the corp" as it is the only tracking system for bugs and allows us to specifically identify a fix for an issue.
