Hello Doru -

Since you've just done this - and I'm starting the exact same process - you might have the quick answer for me!

I've run into errors moving from 3.2.2 to 4.3.7 (the initial step of the upgrade chain) - things such as remnants of an old replication that I need to clean out (thought I already had), and file access errors (possibly permissions)...

However, what I need to know is whether I can force a reinstall manually or whether I must restore the db & files back to original, reconfigure everything and do the autoupgrade procedure.

I tried doing the http://www.website.com/portal/install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade manually, but it does nothing and just sits at a blank screen - no messages saying that it failed - or that it's doing anything - just a dead white screen...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help - it's a real pain to go back to the very beginning every time I 'fix' one of the problems and want to re-run the upgrade...

Hello Doug

It is very important to make a full backup of your website (both code and DB) after every upgrade step.

I recommand you to use the original version of your website.

The first upgrade from 3.2.2 should be 4.0.3.

Well... that might explain some of the problems - the upgrade chain that I found here started with 3.2.2 --> 4.3.7!

Yep - got the backups!
I haven't found a way to force a re-run an install/upgrade without going back to the backups & starting from scratch.

I did find a comment that the 3.2.2 --> 4.3.7 conversion required that you use the full INSTALL package for 4.3.7 rather than the upgrade package.
I've found a series of SQL errors (and worked through them) that occur because the Install package assumes an empty database.

Which did you use for the 4.0.3 conversion? Full Install or Upgrade?

Thanks,
Doug

Doug,

I used only the Install package for every version during process upgrade from 3.2.2. to 4.9.4.

I did not have any SQL errors.
