You are getting a glimpse of what was asked. we did not post all of our documentation and emails to show how clear we communicated. that's not what this post is about.

It would seem that this is exactly what this thread is about. You started out by complaining about a developer and I don't think anyone can make an opinion about wether your complaints are founded or not without all "documentation and emails". What is clear to us is that there has been miscommunication, and without the documentation and emails, we have no idea what caused this miscommunication. - But please don't start publishing this here, *I* would not spend my time to go through them just to put the blame on the one or the other.

The cause of miscommunication could lay in language differences, but from the reply of the developer in this thread, I think I may conclude his English understanding is quite acceptable.

The cause could also be that you made unrealistic expectations about the project. But as long as we don't know what has been agreed upon or if anything has been formaly agreed upon, it is difficult to make a judgement. I would think, if you explained your requirements to the developer as (un)clearly as you did to us, you might also be (at least in part) at fault.

It is feedback about our experience and suggestions for alternative options.

Or would you be trying out avenues for revenge, now that you feel you have been let down?  I could still think about other motives.

Anyway, if that all it is, I think we have spent enough bandwidth on the subject. Let's move on.

We have used other legal methods to resolve our issues with the developer. We wanted to post a simple warning to other developers and did not expect so many people wanting to put our case on trial. We did not go into a ton of detail, because it wasn't necessary to get the point across. It wasn't about price, who communicated better, it was about ethics! They quoted, we paid, nothing was delivered.

We have been doing this for years and have worked hard trying to communicate customer requirements clearly. We laid out what we wanted and felt the pride they quoted was reasonable for working on one mod. If you are ok with our experience, then use who you want to use. The comments and assumptions are wasting bandwidth.

We do appreciate those who added more than just personal comments or assumptions to the discussion. If we would have know there was going to be so much passion injected from other developers, we would have spent more time writing our initial post. So for that, we apologies.

>We really wish there was a forum for this in DNN to save us all time and heartache by having an opportunity to review a developer before we buy

The forums are not the place to fight out legal disagreements and the forum s are not the place to review developers. At best use the forums to ask for contacts from people that may have used a particular developer and then keep the discussion off forum..The forum moderators should be on top of threads such as this and exersize their power over what is allowed and not allowed before slander, and down right revevenge is allowed to affect any third party etc.

The thread is not about DNN it is simply about a disagreemnet over a commercial agreement between two parties - fight it out in court not on the forums. Do what every one else does - ask for a client list before entering into any agreement with a developer..

The thread seems to be a no pay add for Rent a Coder then any thing else.

We were just trying to help others who are looking. There is no financial gain for us to promote Rent-a-Coder. This thread is about DNN! It is about sharing our experience and having a discussion around outsourcing.

Chat About It!
You don't have to "need help" to be here! If you just want to chat about DNN, this is the place to do it. Curious about something? Wonder why things are the way they are? Maybe you just have an idea... let's chat about it!
