Hello,

This is my very first attempt to install DNN, so please bare with me.

I've followed the INSTALL document and installed DNN on my server but I get an

HTTP 404 error. I've made sure the requirements twice and everything mentioned

in the document but still cant get it to work.

I would greatly appreciate if someone can help me with this.

Thank you

Post the 404 error in full.  Look at the IIS logs to see what file is affected.

If you have actually installed DNN, you might check the PortalAlias table in the database and ensure that the alias does not have a /install at the end of it.

I am getting the same thing.

2k3 Enterprise, R2, clean install and patched.

Put the DNN files in the wwwroot folder and I get a 404 every time.

  • I have verified that Default.aspx is the top default document
  • I have verified the security settings on the folder.
  • I have verified that the ASP.NET version is 2.0.50727

What else should I look at? I never even get to the install wizard. It is always just a 404.

More info......

I just built a new vm to validate the problem, and sure enough the problem is still there.

Here is the log from my 404 error....

It looks like it can't find the default.aspx file even though it is in there and at the top of the default document list.
