I have reproduced this error in both my "production" web site on the host server and on my local copy. I need resolution to this issue ASAP because I need to fix some errors related to both my skin.css and ascx - basically DNN 5.1.2 skinning is non-functional right now.

 

Please let me know how I can help you so that I can get a correction asap.

Would you mind sending me the skin package, so I can test it myself (messmail at yahoo dot com)?

BTW, the locking is most likely solved by restarting the application (at the bottom of the "host settings")

Could it be you installed one skin from Host > Extensions and the other one from Admin > Extensions?

The skin installed as admin would be in the "Portals/0/Skins" folder, The Host skin in "Portals/_default/Skins"

That's the only way I have been able to reproduce the issue.

After that I also cannot install any skins anymore although I can uninstall the skins, but this does not help.

You should not be able to install the same skin as admin and host

I'll log this in the issue tracker.

The only solution for now would be to uninstall the skins and reinstall using a different skin name, I guess.

Note; use what I'm posting here at your own risk!

I could not uninstall both skins from the Host > Extensions page.

But I could after I ran this SQL script from Host > Sql

DELETE FROM Skins WHERE SkinSrc like '%Skins/DNN5Skin%'

Replace DNN5Skin with the name of the skin (the name of the folder the skin is in)

After that I was able to uninstall and reinstall the skin

I changed the SQL to:

DELETE FROM Skins WHERE SkinSrc like '%Skins/DNN5Skin%'

Which is a bit safer.
