I really don't understand the popularity of Godaddy hosting. You made the right choice to move the client off Godaddy and over to 3Essentials. You won't regret it and neither will your client. 3Essentials is super affordable, full featured, and has excellent tech support.
Godaddy, on the other hand, has horrible tech support, does not really support DNN, is not DNN friendly, and those who stick with Godaddy and DNN are obviously not attempting to do any e-commerce with an actual merchant account payment gateway. Problems with DNN and Godaddy stem from Godaddy's use of outdated security protocols that Microsoft recommended updating 4 or 5 years ago. Not upgrading security protocols to the recommend levels in 5 years is a serious red flag that should cause anyone and everyone wanting to host anything on Godaddy to drop them immediately. How could you trust them to keep your data secure if they aren't following current protocols or updates? Huge red flag!!! I will never host anything with them. They are, however, great for their original purpose of domain name registration. Godaddy hosting is only for people who don't know better, and eventually and unfortunately they will learn the hard way.
Anyway, yes, there are much, much better web hosts for DNN out there. You need to figure out what your specific needs are and then compare the various trustworthy hosts out there. For your clients needs, 3Essentials is a good choice, and if they ever do plan to expand to an e-commerce solution for something like accepting online donations or online fund raising, 3Essentials will support that, too. There is room to grow with that host and you really get much more than you pay for with 3Essentials. I also have had excellent experience with WebHost4Life and have hosted my own sites with them for nearly a decade now with no problems.
