I use the DNNStuff Aggregator all over my site. I noticed that when I put a core HTML mod into the aggregator and give a normal user edit rights that user can see the Edit Text module action.

However, if I enable partial rendering on the child mod (HTML mod) then the actions do NOT appear for the normal user with edit rights, but DO appear for Admin users. This is a massive issue - I use a lot of modules in the Tab module and use Partial Rendering on all of them.

I raised this on the DNN Stuff forums and Richard spent a good deal of time debugging it with no joy. He thinks it may be a core issue as other "child-module container mods" also do it apparently. It happens on DNN 4.9.4 and 5.1.2.

Does anyone have any ideas about this please? Can anyone with other Tab modules try this and let us know the results? LiveTabs, ZLDNN Module Wrapper etc.

In the screenshot above, the actions DO appear if I turn off Enable Partial Rendering for that particular module (but it affects any module)

Hi Rodney,

Thanks for posting. I'll try and provide a little more information as to what's going on and see if it sparks interest from anyone on the core team to try and help.

When the Aggregator module injects modules into tabs, it happens at two different points in the page lifecycle depending on whether the module support partial rendering (Ajax) or not. If it supports partial rendering, the module is injected in the Page_Init event and if not, it is injected during the Page_Load event. I found through some trial and error that this was the optimal way to do the injection.

When injecting, I'm using the standard Injection routine of the DNN core to do the heavy lifting for maximum compatibility going forward. For some reason, when injecting in Page_Init and with the module container turned on, the container actions and sometimes the dropdown action menus are not rendering properly.

If anyone from the core team is interested in what's going on, there is a full demo available at http://www.dnnstuff.com/Download/tabid/298/aff/15/aft/1537/afv/topic/language/en-US/Default.aspx that you could load and try this out and step through the code. I've stepped through the core code myself and can't see why it's not working but maybe I'm missing something.
