Hi,

That is something you would need to discuss with the search module team (not sure if that isn't the core team). However, they would never know whether the skin needed to be added or not. To be honest I'm not completely comfortable we have the best solution within the events module at the moment, so I'll do some investigation.

Yeah. I am having the same problem with two different skins (one for users and one for admin). The only difference is, that the wrong skin is only displayed when the event is accessed through search results. Meaning: When the event shows up in search results on page and I click the link, the skin changes. When I click on the event in a listview, the details view shows up with the correct skin.

Anyone experienced the same issue?

I've logged this on Gemini. I don't have an immediate resolution for this problem, so it is likely to get fixed with version 5.1.0 - http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=10825&PROJID=11

Roger,

My issue is not the same as this.  If in the page settings the skin is set to 'Portal Default' shouldn't it use the default skin?  My problem is even when the user is NOT logged in, the details page is using the portal default for the Admin skin, not the normal skin.  So regular users are seeing the admin skin when they should never be able to see this.

I can manually set the details view page to use the correct skin -- my concern was I assumed it would have to be set for EACH event.  It turns out this is not the case (Thank GOD!!  Over a year's worth of events in there. . .).  I would have thought it would not have used the admin skin to begin with though.

Not a big deal, it was easy to fix but I thought I'd reply with my findings.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Unfortunately this isn't the modules fault as such, though we have tried to improve the situation. If a view (or control) of a module is opened in a new page (i.e. without any other modules on the page as is the case when you tick Event Details New Page), DNN opens it in isolation mode and uses the admin skin. If you were to go and look at the forums module, you'll see all sorts of situations where the admin skin is used.

I have added functionality to add the skin and container to the url, at this time this goes as far as looking at the properties of the module instance and the page the module is on to identify what should be included. It could in theory go as far as looking at the portal defaults as well, but for some reason I stopped the coding at the page level when I added the functionality. This functiaility can be disabled in module settings, because it isn't necessarily right for everyone.

In any case, to answer your concerns, for the momemnt just set the skin and container on the page you have the module on, and it will get used in all instances where module views get opened up in a new page.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,

Thanks for paying attention to the skin issue in version 5.1. I temporary solved the problem by adding the SkinSrc-parameter to search results for the events modul.

Cheers
Michael
