I've been searching the forum for information on how I can restrict access to a subfolder from the dotnetnuke root directory in IIS.

Is it possible to add, let's say a folder under the dotnetnuke folder in IIS that has for example images in it and restrict access to it using the roles in my dotnetnuke website.

I'm currently generating flash albums using the SimpleViewer Picasa Template and I want to be able to use this album in my dotnetnuke site but I haven't found a way to restrict access to it using the roles in my web site.

Hope this text isn't too confusing.

Thanks in advance.

to restrict access to a subfolder, you have to create it as "secure folder (filesystem)" in admin :: File Manager.

Please note, that not all modules are able to use it.

Thanks Sebastian for the reply.

This does answer my question regarding creating secure subfolders. I did look at this feature and it works fine for some files. If I understand it correctly ASP can only restrict files that have the .resource extension. I tried adding a flash file which worked fine but the flash file was not able to read its resource files (images with the .resource extension) from subfolders.

I'll keep searching the forum for clues.

Thanks again!

for your flash file resources, you may create a folder outside /portals and restrict write access - but since the flash is executed on the client, all users need read access to it.
