Fedja, thanks for contributing to the community...but you should know two things:

1)  Both Google and Yahoo essentially ignore keywords in search ranking.  (See http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html)

2)  There are literally hundreds of free modules available for DotNetNuke.

My advise is NEVER use a free module (or any module) that does not provide the source code (it is fine if it cost extra).

I second what Michael says here.  This is very important, because often, free is not really free!

Chad,

I was not hinting at anything.  I have been with Shaun and DotNetNuke since he released the very first build in 2002.  Back then, NONE of the modules were sold, not one.  Most of us made our money hosting or doing custom development, so there was no need to charge.  Plus we all know by keeping them free we could generate more interest in DNN and in return more work etc (very Win-Win).  With time however things began to change and less and less modules were free (many of the previously free modules became commercial and many new commercial modules were released…).  Much of this is simple evolution and some is businesses seeing a good thing and jumping on it.  There is nothing wrong with selling modules and there is nothing wrong with giving them away.  Both are good for the DNN Community and this is what makes DNN so strong.  That said I do love to see enthusiastic developers releasing free modules, it takes me back to the days when all of us were new to .Net and were also enthusiastically developing and releasing modules, core code, etc…  It was a great time and I like to take a moment to comment now and again when I see someone who has that same spirit.  My comment was not meant to be disparaging, it was just reminiscence of a different time.  There are many great modules out there that are still free and new ones are release through the Forge, SnowCovered, Personal Sites, and the DNN Core all the time.  This is why DNN ROCKS!

I think the point of this thread has been hijacked somewhat - anyone care to discuss my SEO concerns? Would love to hear other opinions on this.

 Hi Rodney,

I am guilty of said hijacking .  Sorry about that.   Let's talk SEO for a moment.  I would argue that this is NOT keyword stuffing if the module works as described above.  It sounds more like keyword optimization in an automated way.  From what I am reading (not tested yet), it sound like a person would have to have made it to the web page once before using a keyword or phrase and then this module notices this and optimizes its meta data to use this info to its benefit... I do not see how this is different than what any SEO service offers other than it is automated and uses Google's own tools to make it happen (which I do not think is an issue as again SEO business do the same thing). Just my thoughts...
