Hi Sitbra

The easiest way is to use the release.config file instead of your old web.config. Just extract the db access values and the  machineKey validationKey and decryptionKey to insert them into your release.config and at last you save the release.config as your new web.config and you are done :)

I did the steps in the previous posts... but it' does not help. I still have error during entering host settings...

It is a clean 5.2.2 install without any upgrades. (I user Install package from web site DotNetNuke_Community_05.02.02_Install.zip)

Any ideas?

Commeting method inside file solve the exception. File: ~/DesktopModules/Admin/HostSettings/HostSettings.ascx.vb

I comment all lines inside this method:

        Private Sub BindModuleCacheProviderList()
'            cboModuleCacheProvider.DataSource = GetFilteredProviders(ModuleCache.ModuleCachingProvider.GetProviderList(), "ModuleCachingProvider")
'            cboModuleCacheProvider.DataBind()
'
'            Dim defaultModuleCache As ModuleCache.ModuleCachingProvider = DotNetNuke.ComponentModel.ComponentFactory.GetComponent(Of ModuleCache.ModuleCachingProvider)()
'            Dim providerKey As String = (From provider In ModuleCache.ModuleCachingProvider.GetProviderList() _
'                                        Where provider.Value.Equals(defaultModuleCache) _
'                                        Select provider.Key).SingleOrDefault
'
'            If Not String.IsNullOrEmpty(Entities.Host.Host.ModuleCachingMethod) Then
'                If cboModuleCacheProvider.Items.FindByValue(Entities.Host.Host.ModuleCachingMethod) IsNot Nothing Then
'                    cboModuleCacheProvider.Items.FindByValue(Entities.Host.Host.ModuleCachingMethod).Selected = True
'                Else
'                    'maybe the specified output cache provider has been removed
'                    cboModuleCacheProvider.Items.FindByValue(providerKey).Selected = True
'                End If
'            Else
'                cboModuleCacheProvider.Items.FindByValue(providerKey).Selected = True
'            End If
        End Sub

Possible problems:

  • method not compatible to 2.0 ASP.NET (???)
  • DataSource returned by GetFilteredProviders is not safe

I hope this information helps developers to solve the issue faster

I don't believe DNN 5.2 is supported on .Net 2. I think you need to be on 3.5.
