Hi,

Happily installed DNN 5.2.0 Starter Kit template in Visual Studio 2008, yet on creating a new website, it would not build.

There are 4 errors, all related to the HTML Module:

  1. Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Html.MyWork'
  2. Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Html.Settings'
  3. Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Html.HtmlModule'
  4. Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Html.EditHtml'

There is also the 5-th error, yet I am not sure if it appeared after my intervention (replacing all files in the /bin folder from the DNN 5.2.0 Upgrade package in the attempt to resolve the above problems):

  1. 'formatURL' is not a member of 'ASP.desktopmodules_html_mywork_ascx'

Would anyone know the solution to this?

I also upgraded my hosted website from DNN 5.1.4 to DNN 5.2.0 (using the Upgrade package), and that worked without any problems.

Other people had reported different problems with the transition to DNN 5.2.0, yet this with the DNN 5.2.0 Starter Kit HTML Module is so specific that it deserves a new thread.

Any suggestions?

HTML is a separate solution, you need to compile it before using it - make sure, web site path is correct.

Web Site is a WSP application, which cannot be pre-compiled, only JIT compile is supported.

Thank you for your reply, Sebastian. I understand what you are saying.

Yet, we are talking about a Visual Studio Starter Kit package, something which installs a template in Visual Studio. You will agree, whatever is part of that template, when a new website is generated from it, it should at least clean compile/build. If it does not, there is an error(s) in the template (Starter Kit). And this is the case here.

Until this problem is fixed, the DNN 5.2.0 Starter Kit is unusable.

Fortunately, the DNN 5.2.0 Upgrade package seems to work fine. We are all happy to have the new, improved DNN 5.2.0 release.
