Steve,

  • what are "bottom links" in your skin and what do you expect with logo?
  • [Text] skin object can used for localised content (from a resource file included with your skin) as well as using Token Replace, i.e. it allows you to access current environment variables from site, page, module, user etc.
  • There is an updated skinning doc available somewhere, but I am unable to locate it atm.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

Dear Sebastian Leupold,

Thank you for your help and your time.

Steve,

The bottom links are simply the same as the menu links, as generated by DNN 4.9, which are the [LINKS] in index.html, dnn:LINKS in index.ascx under MinimalExtropy folder.

Regarding the logo, I want to change the logo pic (ie, *.jpg, .png) based on the locale (e.g. us, gb). ie, change the path of the pic based on the culture. Does the dnn:LOGO support localisation for its image path (e.g.  ResourceKey="Breadcrumb.Text" )? Or I have to change the code, e.g.

 imgLogo.ImageUrl = PortalSettings.HomeDirectory & PortalSettings.LogoFile

in ~/admin/Skins/logo.ascx.vb. Is there a better way that does NOT involve coding?

  • [Text] skin object can used for localised content (from a resource file included with your skin) as well as using Token Replace, i.e. it allows you to access current environment variables from site, page, module, user etc.

I find the [Text] in index.html, which is used for the tile for BreadCrumb, e.g. You are here. Is the [Text] ONLY used for "static" text, e.g. "You are here" in the BreadCrumb. I mean it does NOT integrate with the DNN management system. i. e. you cannot change the "You are here" in the user interface built in DNN, only via the resouce file.

using Token Replace

Please forgive me for the request. Please tell me how to use it (using Token Replace), an example will be appreciated.

  • There is an updated skinning doc available somewhere, but I am unable to locate it atm.

Thank you for the link, I will have a look at it.

Shaun describes use of TokenReplace here.

An overview about TokenReplace gives Stefan here.
