be aware, that using SQL Server Management Studio 2005 does not mean you are running this version - important is the SQL Server version, as well as the compatibility level of the database which needs to be set to SQL Server 2005 as well, to be able using new language elements.

I'm glad I saw this post. My upgrade form 4.7 to 5.2 has been failing as well. I had a feeling it was b/c my sql 2000. So I tried going step by step and upgrades all the way to 4.9.5 worked so far (I'll be testing 5.1 soon)

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to upgrade sql2000 to sql2005? I am not sql savy and any help is appreciated. Any pointers will help. I'm using a shared host plan on webhost4life.

Thanks in advance.

Oz

On using host plans by a ISP, you can't upgrade the database server.  Upgrading the server have done by the ISP.  If there is installed a SQL Server 2005 or 2008 the simply way is to ask the ISP to increase the database.

I hardly can remember my last upgrade from SQL server 2000, but afair it was flawless, at least backup - restore should work

make sure to increase compatibility level of the database before moving to a dnn version requiring a newer version of the database server.

Thank you guys. I'll first talk to the hosting company to see if they can upgrade it to sql 2005 for me.

Meanwhile, my upgrade to 5.1 also failed and it seems to be b/c sql again. I thought only dnn5.2 was not supporting sql2000. Since I lost the login screen after the upgrade I cannot see the details of the upgrade log, but here is what I got during the process:
