Here's my situation. I have a form with a dropdown with the number of "Rooms" on it. The problem comes when I try to insert into the DB. All goes well if they select a value. But, being that the field is option, if they don't select any value from the dropdown I have problems.

Ultimately it seems to come down to the sqlhelper.executenonquery line in the sqldataprovider.vb. I've even tried GetNull() Function to no avail.

Help!

Your lucky day! I just dealt with the same issue last week.  It seems that the GetNull(ByVal Field As Object) returns a zreo (0) as the value of a "null" integer.  So, if you really want to pass a null value to your stored procedure you will have to do something like the following.  (in SqlDataProvider.vb)

Public Overrides Function GetInfo(ByVal intApplicationId As Integer) As IDataReader

            If intApplicationId = 0 Then

'assume that 0 is supposed to be null
                Return CType(SqlHelper.ExecuteReader(ConnectionString, GetFullyQualifiedName("pGetInfo"), System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlInt32.Null)), IDataReader)
            Else
                Return CType(SqlHelper.ExecuteReader(ConnectionString, GetFullyQualifiedName("pGetInfo"), intApplicationId)), IDataReader)
            End If

        End Function

You could also handle the value 0 in the stored procedure itself.

Hope this helps.

Robert
