We had our portal at DNN 5.0.1 and search was not working.
I am not sure where, but I found some information about how Search was not working in this version of DNN, so I opted to upgrade to 5.2.1, the current latest release.

After the upgrade however, Search still acts exactly the same way? You enter a search term, click the search button, and the page simply refreshes - nothing else. No search results, no blank search results, just the same page you were already viewing, just a flicker as it refreshes.

Help?
Thanks!

make sure, there is only a single instance of SearchResults on any page in your portal (including the recycle bin!)

if the error persists, I suggest clearing the search index and re-index your site.

Thanks Sebastian - but I guess I am not sure what you are referring to here??

In DNN4, a blank search results page should be displayed.

In DNN5, a search results page showing "No results found" (or sth like this) should be displayed.

If search results don't show up, either search results page is not properly configured (e.g. permissions) or there are multiple pages with an instance of search results module (see module list in  host :: module definitions).

Thanks Sebastian -

So if this is a DNN5 installation, and when you click the search button, the page you are on simply refreshes, and (seemingly) nothing happens, where does this point to as an issue?

We have never put any Search Results modules on any of our pages. I have always assumed when you searched, the app would take over and display the results for you, not that we would have to setup a separate search results page on our own?

What am I missing? What are you referring to when you state "search results page is not properly configured (e.g. permissions)"?
Sorry if I am being dense - I feel as though I a just missing something entirely here.

Thanks again!
JN
