Ive resolved the problem. It turns out that I didnt set the correct Execute Permissions for the website in the IIS properties.

After I have set it to have "Scripts and Executables" (previously, I set it as "Scripts" only) and run the install from scratch, it works. For both occasions, I have always set the aspnet account (NETWORK SERVICE) for the folders/files.

Thank you all of you for helping me :).

Glad to hear you are up and running.  Perhaps after your site is up and running a bit, I would try to change the "Scripts and Executables" back to Scripts Only, which is all you should need.  I've added a download section to my site with steps on setting up a DNN 4.0.3 site locally and you are more than welcome to it.

hello,

Im having the EXACT same issue. I know the problem is that Im trying to run DNN on a Domain Controller....but for now thats my only solution. Currently Im trying to get a site up in DNN 4.0.3 on a Windows 2003 DC.

I have battled with this for days...before today I could only get as far as a SQL connect error when I built the project....finally today after some more tinkering I was able to get the Install to complete and then when I go to 'Click here to access your portal' I get  the red warings for each module and it states : "An error has occurred
"Error: (PLACE MODULE NAME HERE)... is currently unavailable"

then if i log in as Host, each module contains this error :"DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: connectionString ---> System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: connectionString at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteReader(String connectionString, String spName, Object[] ......

Please can I get some help on this?

Justin

Hello:  Are both of you required to use DNN 4.0.3?  If not I would download the latest documentation and the latest "Update" file for DotNetNuke (at the time of this post it is 4.4.1).  The reason why I would recommend this, in to having access to the enhancements and bug fixes, is that now that you have the NTFS permissions issue taken care of the core projects should install with this upgrade.

There has been a change to how projects are deployed with the source/install download zip files.  I believe that the latest release of DNN 4 has two core modules, the HTML and Links modules.  These modules will reside in the $\DotNetNuke\Install\Module folder until you run the site, causing the installation of these two modules to occur.  Once you have your site up and running you can choose to install the others modules by logging into your website with the "host" account.  Navigate to Host > Modules and you will see a listing of the other modules with a checkbox next to them so that you can select the other modules/projects to install.  I'm not 100% sure but you may need to download the module zips from the Projects section of this website and copy the zip files to this folder.  I would check the online help for this, which should answer any additional quesions you may have.

Good luck!
