Is there a feature or module that will allow me to e-mail all 'registered users' that a page has been updated? (a Blog, News, Forums, etc...)

Essentially everything within a specific portal. Is there a way I can code that? (Is there a global hook that something has changed caused by a user?)

I've been searching modules and I haven't seen anything yet... (A ListServ is similar and I could live with that as long as I could pipe modules to it some how.)

first, content is hosted in modules, not pages, therefore you need to hook onto this level.

second, there is no central repository besides the search index, which might be used to get notified on changes. There used to be an unsupported "What's New" module displaying all recent changes based on the search index. Be aware, that modules without search support will not be included.

I am thinking work flows may do what I need but I'm not 100% sure... I'd just have to attach a flow to all the inputs...

In worse case scenario I can always make a scheduled task to download a specific set of pages and hasg them... The later, do it again, if the hash changes then we notify the users (some role(s)) that content has changed... At this level, it would be page level.... It's not proper by any means but I think this will accomplish the task.

I'm looking for notifications only... If I had RSS feeds on everything (which I don't) - it'd be alot easier as the feed is smaller than the pages...

Are there any other options? I like the search option too - I need to find out if all modules support it...
