Actually, I use both connectionString and AppSetting for my connectionStrings but the problem is not there.

As it was said earlier, when you add an other DataProvider, DotNetNuke can't start and the site is unaccessible. Both DataProviders are named differently and it was working well in older version of DNN.

I am not using legacy syntax. I am using the same type of syntax that is used to define the default provider in the node of the webconfig file. Here is a sample of the node that I was putting in in the What I have noticed, is that, as soon as you put in the node in the data node, DNN version 5.1.3 (and higher) stops working. It works fine with the 4.9 versions. I am trying to figure out why. Associated with this is also a application error logged in the eventsViewer that says ".net runtime 2.0 error, faulting application w3wp.exe etc..." Thanks.
