Does DNN login is known to be unstable?

I have few web sites on different hosting providers (goDaddy, brinkster, serverIntellect) with
different skins and different dnn versions (3.00 .. 3.22) and in all of them i have login problems.
From time to time i simply can't login. I have login failed message or sometime no message at all.
Do you know this issue? any solutions?
How can i debug the login process - which component is responsible for the login?
Where can i find the source code of the login process?
Thanks!

Hello:

Sounds frustrating and sounds similar to a problem I have but not with DNN.

When your login fails to you receive any type of error message like timeout or page not found? Are you behind a proxy server when this happens? Are you receiving this for your sites only, or do you ever receive this for other DNN sites, such as this one as well? Finally, once logged in do you ever receive a timeout when navigating to a specific page? (I have heard that there issues like this with child portals due to invalid re-directs or lost session information).

For me I have better success at logging in with Firefox - actually, this is what I use and it works most of the time. The only thing that I can think of that you can do is change your timeout value in your web.config file. This won't help you login, but it will help you stay logged in for a period of time. For example, if you value is "timeout='60'" or 1hour, try 1 day or 1 week - "timeout='10080'".

If you could provide additional information and try IE vs Firefox, I would be more than happy to look into further. Good luck! John

Thanks for your help.
This happens only with this specific sites.
I tried login from different computers on different network - no success.

The message i received is:
Services.Localization.Localization.GetString("LoginFailed" ...
(I gave u the key because in my language the message is different...).

Thanks.

Hi, the problem you mention in paragraph 2 is very similiar to what I am having now. I am narrowing it down to zonealarms. It is only just happening to me now and I suspect a patch upgrade to my zonealarm on my proxy server could be the culprit along with .net 2005 as I only have the login issues on this (DNN) site and www.asp.net

I tried using Safari as well and that didn't seem to make a difference.

I also posted my experience on this thread http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/107/threadid/34493/scope/posts/Default.aspx

FYI

Rob
