The issue is that the NAV menu uses the ASP.NET way of detecting what browser you use, which is not always fail proof.
I just added the browser files to my test page and used the querystrings reported (using the user agent switcher extension for firefox).
In that case the browser is detected correctly, but NAV menu still renders incorrectly..

Thanks Timo, is anything being done to address this? What DNN version should I downgrade to, in an attempt to overcome this problem?

I don't know if this is currently handled. I don't develop NAV menu.
I'll send the developer an email.
AFAIK, this issue would have been in previous DNN versions too..

Have you tried my dnn:NAV replacement? It emulates the standard menu, but doesn't use browser sniffing.
