Hi Jon,

The Install package has the web.config file already setup.  This is the ONLY package that does.  All others do not.  The Upgrade pacakge does not need it because it upgrades the existing web.config.  The Source pacakge has both a reelase.config and a development.config, the developer then makes a choise about which one to use.  You have to change one of the to web.config and the build the package yourself before deploying.  The issue you are having is due to what ever package you are deploying not having a web.config file.  The web.config file declares a bunch of universal Import statements one of which has the Config namespace in it.

Hi Phillip

Thanks for your reply. However... I uploaded the INSTALL PACKAGE (DNN5.4.1) with the web.config file - like I always do, in the same manner that I have done numerous times before (I do this daily) without errors... This time though, I got this error.

As mentioned before, I'm not in full control of the environment setup - IIS and all its permissions, the DB and all its permissions, etc, etc. I'm installing on a client's server...

I thought it might either be and IIS permissions setting, or DB setting... Or, they haven't got ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 installed... Could this be it..?

Jon, any of the reasons you mention could cause it, I'd assume there are permissions missing or access to the web.config file has been blocked (see file properties in windows file manager).

Hey Sebastian

That's kinda what I thought... Glad someone else is of the same opinion - 'cause it really could be anything... Anyway, the client's hosts are checking up on permissions, etc for me.
