Tony,

You're right that you have to login as a host to upload skins, but once you're logged-in you can upload a skin through the admin > extensions page, which installs the skin to the portal you're working in, just like uploading as an admin in DNN4 did.

I'm not sure how to resolve this, but I'll post a tweet to see if anyone else can help.

Regards,

Rick.

Hi Tony, I think the issue, is what Rick mentioned above. You have installed the skin through both Portal extenions and Host extensions. So the Portal admin, can now use the skin as Site Skin, not Host Skin. So when you delete the skin from the Host extensions page, you are deleting the unused template. Easy to check, go to FTP, Browse to (Portals//Skins) you should find a directory for the skin. Hope that helps. Regards Mina

I am not sure what this post is about. I am talking about deleting skins. Not uploading skins.  The issue is deleting a skin which is in use does not get the skin deleted even though DNN reports the skin has been deleted.

Tony,

I know that was slightly off-topic but I was trying to say that you may have installed it in the admin extensions even though you're sure you haven't, I've done it a couple of times and ran into the same issue you've got.

Just to make sure the skins are host installed, have you looked at the source code for the pages the skins are showing up on and had a look at the urls for the skin css files? This will let you know where the skins have been installed e.g. Portals/_default/Skins/skin_name would be a host skin and Portals/1/Skins/skin_name would be a site skin.

Regards,

Rick.

All skins are installed under _default. The automatic installer was used (the url method). I never use the admin panel to install skins.
