We've got a DNN site we built and are hosting for a mid-size organization.  About 80 people use the CMS in one way or another.  I think there are about 1,000 pages total on the site.

Our sql database has grown to 40GB, which seems enormous.  Is this normal?  I realize that there is no way for any of you to answer given the few details I have provided -- but I am just wondering if that seems absurdly big, or if a database of that size can be expected on larger sites over time.

Thanks.

check for the largest tables, usually those are log tables like sitelog, eventlog and scheduler history, where you may either delete older records or all records (truncate table). Depending on the DNN version, you may also need to rebuild search tables (see http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/AboutDotnetNuke/V3V4TippsTricks/Suchindexlöschen.aspx), in a couple of earlier DNN5 versions, SearchWordPosition table contained numerous duplicate entries. Another issue might be the Database transaction log, which needs to be truncated on frequent backups.
