I'm using the lasted beta release... great job btw... the module made a big jump for better indeed...

I'm confused about something... I've translated the full module to my native language -> Portuguese, an while doing that I noticed that Templates can also be edited in Language Settings!

While browsring the settings I also see the templates section, but in here I only see English!

So before I screw up I'd like to know how is this going to work... my guess is that If I change the Templates in the Module settings they also change in the Language files... than I could just change what I need to Portuguese!... Am i right?

Another question is: how will the system handle things like mails? how does the system knows when to use the English Template or the Portuguese translation to send the Email? is this based on the Owner of the Event or the User Language settings?

Many thanks!

Hi Miguel,

The templating you see in the module does not fully support localisation as yet, we hope to improve in the future. Currently the defaults for templates are stored in the .resx files (which you edit via the Admin/Languages dialogue). This allows for translators to easily provide a language pack for the module. But as soon as you edit the settings it will store a copy in the module settings such that each module can be customised differently, however currently in one language only per module instance. That said there are some tokens (usually field labels) which are still taken from the resx files.

So changing the template in the module settings, does not change the language files (resx). If you want your site in Portuguese, translate in the language files, set your language (preferred locale) to Portugal, add a module instance - and the module settings will then show the Portuguese templates.

I know this won't meet everyones needs, especially those requiring multi language, but as you say it is a big step forward from previous versions. As I said above, we do hope to support multi-lingual portals in upcoming versions.

Cheers
Roger

I see ... well it does work for me... this site will be multilingual but for now not the content just menus and stuff like that so this is enough for now!

DNN must make big changes about localization... I'm using DNN for a few months and I like it but that is indeed something I don't understand, there's a lot of treads about it.... anyway this is the Events forum... and I must say that compared to the previous versions you made HUGE progress... I mean before I couldn't even send a mail for new events, that never made any sense to me!
Lots of bugs were fixed too, so I can't blame you or anyone involved if this is still missing, mostly because I know this is not a module issue but for the whole DNN framework!

Thanks for your help... btw I want to share the Language pack... where should I do that?

In fact there is indeed a bug...

I've changed all the possible templates... meaning in the settings and for Portuguese and English language...

But When I create a new event (or edit an existing event) in the "Send Event Email:" Section it still shows the default template from when I installed the module!

And when I Manually change it here I still got the email with the default template in my inbox... so there's something wrong in this section :|

Wait... I've got it... in fact I said "Install a new instance"... that's the trick... it only changes for new instances!

:P
