I always setup 2 portal alias on a DNN install. localhost my machine ip: 1x.xx.xx In IIS7.5 setup localhost and your ip in the bindings section. In IIS6 you need to setup your IP. Unless you use a tool like IISAdmin. I just did this with version 5.4.2 without any issues on a windows 7 64bit machine. if you are doing it the IP way, make sure windows firewall is not blocking you. Simple way, turn if off temp and try again. also make sure everytime you add a portal alias to bounce the site (add a white space in the web.config or restart the app.) as DNN can cache hard.

Hi,

Thanks for reply, I have added the alias in the website, but when I try to replace the local host with the ip I have added as alias , is shows error resource not found, But If I enter the url like(http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx:47/Home/tabid/39/default.aspx ) it is opening the page , but directly when we run the site then it is showing the url like (http://localhost:47/home.aspx) now if I replace localhost:47 with http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx:47 then it showing the error "The Resource not found" please if anyone knows about this then please suggest me how to solve this.

Thanks in Advance

This was exactly the problem that I had.  I put the port number in the alias, and the front page come up fine.  It is not until you click on another page in the menu, or the login button that you get the "resource not found" error.

If I run the website using the computer name or local host, without a port, everything is fine.

Is there any other way to get DNN5 to see the port number?

I do this all the time with DNN4, and all works without any problems.
