Is it possible to remove the ASPX extension?
I notice DNNSpot.com seems to have removed their extension.
The URL's just look cleaner... it's very nice.
However, if someone has the old url with the aspx extension, I don't want them to get a page not found error.

How is this possible?  Do I need IIS 7?
Thanks

Dnnspot.com uses software that I distribute to remove their urls.

The best way to do this is using the Url Master module.  You can do this even if on IIS6, but you will have to add 'wildcard' mapping to your IIS configuration.  If you have IIS7, you can just point and click and switch off the page extensions.  The module automatically removes the .aspx from the Urls, and automatically redirects the old .aspx urls to the new ones.  You can also add in other redirects for your pages, change the Urls for your pages, and more.  It only takes a couple of minutes to install and transform the Urls on your site.

You can also download and install the iFinity Friendly Url Provider, which allows you to remove the page extensions, but requires you to manually extract and install and configure the module.  You will also have to make the IIS adjustments manually.  The Friendly Url Provider cannot do custom redirects and can't change Urls for your pages.

Hi Bruce

your web site appears to be down at the moment.  Are you still operating?

Thanks

Hi Ian - yes, still very much alive and kicking.

There was an outage on Wednesday but all is OK now.

Hi Ian

we tried this module from OPTX  called rather misleadingly  URL Search  - only $20 and works a treat for friendly URLs  removing extensions etc
