FYI:
There was a way to limit which groups come into DNN as roles. We use Easy AD and it had a place in the "Edit Logon" section that allowed my to turn off the syncing of all groups and add only the ones I needed. Problem Solved.

I appreciate this thread is getting old but I wonder if there is a solution supposing you actually need a reasonably extensive AD user group list.

I am building a Police Intranet that will depend heavily on AD group access and it is a real pain if I can only use a few groups because of this error message.

I currently use around ten AD gorups as that seems to be the limit before the script error appears several times or the site page edit becomes so slow that it is unusable.

If anyone has a quick fix I would love to hear about it

We use AD and have about 50 roles. We see the same problem. We went through our roles and removed those we could but it's a large site with many editors, and we can only trim it down so far.
This appears to be an ongoing problem. It makes our editors very cranky.
