Been fiddling with DotNetNuke installation for a while now and can't really figure out how to perform the install successfuly.

I have a web site in IIS that points to C:\dotnetnuke
This web site has portal.mydomain.com assigned to it.

When I try to install DotNetNuke I don't set an application name in the installer because that would put DNN in a directory but I don't want that. as I need it to run in the root directory.

The installation seems to run smoothly and finishes without any errors. Then, when I browse to the site, I get a page that only has the following information on it::

DotNetNuke Error

Windows Vista

Return to Site

That's about it.

How do I install DotNetNuke in the root folder so that I can access it by calling up portal.mydomain.com directly? Obviously porta.mydomain.com/dotetnuke is not good enough.

Thanks.

Well, the problem disappears when I simply download the zipped version of the installer and copy into the root directory and start it manually. Flawless. That automated installer just wouldn't do the job properly. I should never have bothered, lost a lot of time with it. Zipped version for the win!
