Hello Events Team,

I just installed 5.0.3 on Friday and it looks great, thanks to you all for the work you have put into this module.

I plan to run 5/6 different events calendars based on the roles of the member.
Can I do that?
If so, can I show and hide events based on the role of the person logged in?
Do I need to place 5/6 calendars on 5/6 pages?  I can do that, but it might be nicer of they are all on one calendar and just appear / disappear based on role.

Thanks again for a brilliant module,

Just an update here,

I have since installed the 5.1.1 RC3 and it looks great, the upgrade from 5.00.03 to 5.1.1 was flawless.  I have since seen that I can turn on or off the Categories Selection, so I suppose I could

create 5 different pages
set permissions on each page based on role
Set default catagory on each page
Turn off Catagory Selection on each of the five pages
Make a sixth page that allow admin users to view all.

I that the only way to handle Role Based View of the Events ?

Thanks again for a lovely module

Mark

Hi Mark,

You are correct, we only support permissions for module, not per event. But you could...

  • Create one module instance per role - this would be where you add the events. Set your permissions correctly.
  • Add these modules as sub-calendar to your main calendar, and ensure that you are enforcing sub-calendar permissions. (Tick box in sub-calendar settings).
  • Events will then show in main calendar based on user role.

Cheers
Roger

By the way, Categories is independant of permissions, so you can do as you like with those.

Hello Roger,

Thank you for your comments,  you have assisted greatly.  I have now achieved exactly what I needed.  I have role based events calendars working perfectly using your instructions based on Sub-Calendars.

It is a great module.
