I'm hoping someone here can answer this question for me about user authentication.

Lets say I have a DNN setup on one domain. And on the same main domain, under a subdomain, I have WordPress running which is actually on a different server altogether.

If I want to run a DNN based comments system I know I can include the existing comments on the WordPress entries using some WP include scripts and using an IFRAME.

My question is, if someone were to want to add comments here, and they had been authenticated already by DNN, would that authentication still persist if they entered their comments into the IFRAME content which was being displayed on the WordPress page, which is running as a subdomain, ie blog.website.com?

Thanks

no, you need to pass over authentication, which is not easy to be done securely.

Thanks for the reply. What if there was a link in the WordPress page that launched a new window that was coming directly from DNN. So when the person entered their comments it would be directly inside that DNN served page coming from the main domain.

Would that work if they had already been authenticated?

not with default modules. you might create a module, which uses query string parameters containing articleID, message subject and text (encoded) and save it in the database (together with timestamp and userid).
