Hi

I have a website that has been installed in a directory eg:  www.olg.co.za/olgDNN. There is no website in www.olg.co.za. I have a page there redirecting to www.olg.co.za/dnn.

I have setup a portal alias www.olg.co.za but it does not go to the website, thats why i had to put the redirect file in the root. How do i set this up correctly so that when a used types in www.olg.co.za it pick up the website that is in the directory wwwroot/olgDnn (or www.olg.co.za/olgdnn).

I have to add an additional portal and will probably have the same problem.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks
Ryan

you need to install DNN in the root of the web site, not in a virtual directory inside. This might not be possible, if you are on a shared hosting using Plesk

Thanks for your reply Sebastian

Interesting that the DNN install documentation recommended an Virtual directory for the install.

Can i move my main DNN site to the root easily?
Is it just a case of moving the files and directories into the root?
How can i do this without disruptin the main site for too long?

Thanks again

if you are on your own server, you may remove virtual directory and point the IIS web site to your DNN installation directory, otherwise you need to move all files up one level. You might need to adopt links to local files and images, there is a free tool by www.engagemodules.com, which may help you for text/HTML modules.

thank you

We are on our own server but we have other web applications running within the wwwroot in their own directories so we will probably have to move the files up one level.

I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the link to the module. It is the F3 module i assume.

thanks again
