I had a problem with a windows update and ended up reinstalling Windows.  I was able to maintain my inetpub folder which housed my DNN install.  However after reinstalling Windows and IIS7 using the same DNS name and IP address as before I can't access any of my portals - I get a 500 - Internal Server Error.  All I've done is create a website within IIS using the old DNN rootfolder that I used before again using the same IP as before too.

Can anyone give me some direction on things to check so that I can get this website back up and running?

I have tested with positive results my db connection as well.

Thanks much

Darin

The first thing I would check is the App Pool. Make certain that your AppPool Identity has modify permissions on the DNN directory. It is possible through whatever "re-install" you did, the permissions are incorrect.

you'll also want to make sure you have all the IIS settings correct.

Windows Authentication Enabled
ASP.NET and ASP enabled
Probably basic authentication enabled as well

Thanks guys,
Ended up changing the pipeline mode from Integrated to Classic on the appPool.  I confirmed that the pool identity had permission to the DNN directory but I'm still getting the Authorization error when testing in Basic Settings on the site object - not sure what's up with that but my site is running and I'm happy.

Thanks again

Darin

Also make sure, you haven't enabled identity switching in IIS authentication for your site.
