How can I be control width?

Some of my pages respect the screen width selected in the bar at the top of the page but most go much bigger and you have to scroll to the right to see everything on the - which in crazy because it should easily fit within the selected width.  Even 'standard' pages like Admin and Host are too wide and have some of the icons displayed out of sight across to the right and you have to scroll over to see them.

How can I set page width?

And within a page, how can I set pane width?

Forgive me if I am asking a silly question but I am a beginner .....

The page width is set inthe skin.  Sometimes the page's width appears larger than the default width of the skin because you have a wide image or HTML table ( e.g.. inside HTML module) on the page.  Suggest to look at the content on the page and ajust content accordingly.   If you have a hight resolution monitor,  lower the resolultion and verify the page to fit typical screen resolution.
