Ewan, you have to copy the web site folder to your production server, including the compiled code of DNN library (dotnetnuke.dll), WAP modules and providers, to be found inside the /bin folder.

Thanks for the reply Sebastian.
1) Am I right in thinking this will copy the source code in the code-behind files for my custom modules?
2) Could I minimize this risk by refactoring - say by compiling as much as possible of the VB code in the code-behind files into class libraries (DLLs) and reference these in the web application?

if you convert your modules in Web Site Project (WSP) format to Web Application Project (WAP) format, you reduce the source to be copied onto the production server.
