1. I'm using the standard DNN login provider
2. When I click on the Login link I see the login control prompts for Username and Password
3. I get "Login fail" for user
4. We don' have register option.
5. Yes, I able to view and navigate to other pages of the site

in your web.config you'll see there are 2 SiteSqlServer settings , you need to have both pointing to the same database (one's a legacy setting still used by some modules). As to moving your database, the app_data is a special folder that supports the use of sql express user instances - this is why the "DataDirectory" token in the connection string get's replaced by the physical path for app_data when using user instaces.
