Today I had the symtome that after I loged in I also redirect to the start page (home).  This looks come after I upgraded yesterday my Win2003 server with the asp.net fixes.  I solved this to try to login from a other system (2nd computer) and there it worked well.

After I wend then back to my 1 system and pressing the F5 to reload the page I was logged in.  So I think it is any issue on the Browser cache.

Could you try this please?

ok i am done trying to upgrade, but now . I have a hosting company in holland where i can make use of 1 mssql db but my hoster is so kind to give me a second one for a short period for free so i can do a clean install of 5.5.1 and build my site from there with no downtime on my currentsite,( http://www.pc-allin.nl) how can i do this safely . here is how i see it.

1 . copy the new install package from 5.5.1 into a sub directory
2 make the connection string in the web.config to the new db
3 go to the mywebsite.com/subdirectory

wil this work as it is not in the wwwroot of my host

Wim

if you start from scratch, you will need to re-create all pages and modules as well as transferring all content manually. There are reasonable priced modules for export & import of users, e.g. Bulk User Manager by PH Dobson. But I'd definitely prefer upgrading the site to recreating it. you may use the second database and site to safely upgrade a clone (e.g. at new.pc-allin.nl) without downtime :)
