The problem I see is that I didn't know any solution how we could get now all the encrypt keys on the maschine key attribut.   Without this encryption keys for validation and decryption ... we could not run a upgrade.  Also I don't think any userdata export/import module could handle this without the correct keys.

found a solution to the user problem. http://www.DNNVillage.com 

tested this on a new site and it works only thing the users have to do is a retrievel of password and change it agian to there one !

ok here i am again , is there a way for me to upgrade my site to newest version without losing al my pages and data, except for users i know thats  a problem because of machinekey problem, but i dont want to rebuild my site completely . so is there a way to do an upgrade or install and incorperate my old db into that.

Wim, typically an upgrade does not affect the site content. Start with a backup of all files and database, especially a copy of web.config. Make sure, you are running on .Net 3.5 SP1! Unzip all files from upgrade package hierarchically into your DNN folder and browse to your site. this should trigger the upgrade process.

the problem is that the upgrade wont work due to the machine key value is set to autogenerate. So now i want to do an new install but keep my old data .is there  a way to do that
