OMG I finally MADE IT!!! I connected to the database using SQL Server 2008 R2, but now it’s just the beginning of things :( :( :( I haven’t found any way to export stuff in this app, as the Export function keeps returning me a bunch of errors and simply fails. Good news is, I have found my HTML content and my Modules/Sections, so I can put the pieces together manually. Bad news is, all my picture files, all my PDF files, where are they? I’ve found a table containing their names (for instance example1.pdf) but doing a search here in my folder couldn’t return the file itself. When we upload a file through DNN, where do they go?

Having gone through the same process, I found the "Publlish to Provider" option in the "Server Explorer" of Visual Studio 2008 the best solution. It allows you to save the script file of your database. You may then edit that file for any errors.

It turned out in my case that there was only one error to go after, related to the core Forum extension. Other errors I got from the export or import options in the Management Studio were related to bad connections, time-outs etc.

Emptying the Events and log tables or reducing their size before you start the scripting-out process will make the rest much better manageable.

Pictures and pdf files are most likely to be found in the ~\portals\(portal id)  folder or any subfolder thereof

Wow, my code won’t even appear up there... This is one of the strangest forums I’ve seen :-\

Yes, I've noticed that too.

Something weird is going on in the forums lately. In a previous message I put 'portal id' between angled brackets. After I submitted the posting, the angled brackets and its contents were gone. I had to edit the posting and now wrote it between round brackets. This did not disappear.
