Hello

I have bought a 2 or 3 skins and I always find that the containers do not contain the module action tokens or the print or Syndicate icons.

I then spend a LOT of time (I am more of a developer) editing every SINGLE container I wish to use and adding in all these tokens that the skin developer has omitted.

My first question is - why would anyone leave these out of modern DNN 3.x and 4.x skins? It renders the Print module setting useless for example. My main gripe is the module actions - for example if you view www.smart-thinker.com with IE, the containers look terrible with module actions (eg - create new event) - FF is ok - this is because I am not really a designer and kinda feel a container should be fully functional.

I am thinking of buying some more skins but really can't go through the pain of editing all the containers again - does anyone know if Tyler Fawcett's skins (eg. Pyramid, Pearl) have container actions, as well as Brian O Conners - Clipper skin? Would save me a lot of heartache (I have emailed the developers but still awaiting reply)

On one side of the equation, skin designers control their design so it can be a matter of choice leaving those out. On the other side, some skins are old skins. and finally (there's three sides to every story) some simply ignore this kind of functionality.

Adding them is easy enough, though a bit cumbersome.

Hmmm - I don't understand why you would leave it out tho - the module settings control the rendering of the token, so they would not be visible unless you wanted them to be, but at least you have the option! If there are no module actions, then nothing is rendered, so that also doesn't matter.

BUT - with the Dejavu skin came 12 base containers with 3 types for each one and 3 colours... thats around 100 containers to change if I wanted everyone to have the a print icon, RSS feed and module actions... it seems far more sensible (and this is a preimium skin!) that the customer determines with the module settings what is visible, not the designer (there may be a tiny few cases where it would be impossible to have module actions, but not the majority).

I refuse to buy a skin unless the containers are up to date.

Ok - rant over   ;)

Actually I have seen that when you add them to the end like many do, you end up with an additional row even when the action button is not displayed.

Since the files from your collection are mostly the same with variations in colors, you could use the Replace functionality from VS or Dreamweaver to do the repetitive work on multiple files at once.

Yes, I know - but it's more the concept/principle - I am not looking for ways to do - I just am trying to raise awareness with skin developers - I don't think I can handle paying $70 for a skin again and spending a night or two with testing putting in expected functionality (wouldn't happen with my modules ;)
