Hi all,

Could you help me or refer my question to anyone you think may know. When .netnuke is updated to the production server the languages do not work. The system crashes when you select languages from the host login.  If you could help me with this problem I would be very grateful.  It is urgent as my client is waiting to use the system and the hosting company cannot help.

Please help :)

Ok here we go:

I have installed 4.0.2 on my XP box all good, I have developed a large site using many custom modules and all is good. I installed DNN 4.0.2 on my DEV TEST SERVER 2000 using the publish site in VS2005 from my XP machine, again all good. Both systems are using SQL 2005 Express and I just copied the database across.

Now the tricky part, I installed 4.0.2 on the live site adn it works, no problems. The I published the site up to the live production server 2003, iis 6 and SQL Server 2005, I backed up the database and restored it to the live server. Not the site works ok if you log in to our application but if you log in as HOST it is all bad. The little menus that are for each module has the icons but NO text. And when you select the edit it crashes with the following error:
"Value cannot be null. Parameter name: format"

the big problem is when you select the Language menu item from the HSOT menu it crashes with the following message:

********************************************************************************
An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: format ---> System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: format at System.String.Format(IFormatProvider provider, String format, Object[] args) at DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions.ProcessModuleLoadException(PortalModuleBase ctrlModule, Exception exc) at DotNetNuke.Services.Localization.Languages.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
********************************************************************************

I have attached an image with the menu missing the text.

Also we are in Australia and have selected Australia as the language, all out machines are set to Australia Region and so is the live server.

Any help would be appreciated as the client realy wants to edit the content and that is the only part I can not get working. I "think" it has something to do with the locale or language but I am not sure? Also VS2005 does a precompile and then uplaods it to the server (and it take about 30 minutes to transfer all the files).

Cheers

Craig

You might want to check that you have the resx localisation files in place for your specified language.  I found a load of errors in the errorlog relating to this so have now begrudgingly reverted to en-us from en-gb.  Alternate localisation files are not installed by default even though you can select a whole bunch of locales from the list.
