Hello,

I need some help with finding a solution to a issue that I have been struggling with for months.  I have a website dedicated to my hobby of building scale models.  On the site there is a section where I have been for the lack of a better term blogging a build of a diorama.  I have been using MS Livewritter and uploading through metapost, ( which is a wonderful application).  The problem is the livewritter layout never seems to look the same on my website. I spend way too much time trying to get the format right instead of updating my article.  This has left me very frustrated.   I am uploading to the standard html module.

So my question is what is the best approach to doing something like this?  Can I edit my build article in word and upload this?  Is there a module that allows me to really have the abilty to edit smoothly.  I also like the ability to upload images as I work on the document.

If you need to see what I am doing please go to http://www.freefirezone.com and select the Build Articles from the menu.

Hi Mike

I also use metaPost and Windows Livewriter, mostly as it's a very easy way to create content for documentation with screenshots, pop-up images etc - without uploading each image or doing much coding.

I don't think Word will be helpful at all for you and will create more hassle. Sticking with metaPost will probably be best and easiest.

There are 2 things here I'd look at.  The first is with metaPost you can import the CSS into it so you can get the look right in LiveWriter.

The other is to only think of Livewriter as a way to get content and images together and into the website, but to then refine the look of it there (which is what I usually do).  On a hidden page the public can't see you could add HTML/Text modules and use these as a dumping ground for LiveWriter.  Afterwards adjusting the look and layout using the normal text editor in DNN before copying this into your articles.  Just be aware if you overwrite module content it may adjust image names so best to either keep adding to it or creating new modules to use for the dump.

David,

That is what I basicly have done in the past.  I find it awkward and time consuming to accomplish a lot of work with this method.  Most of the issues I have revolve around images in the document.  The images and text just don't line up right many times.  Just frustrating.

Did you try working with Ventrian News articles or similar module that lets you save your work without publishing it so you can publish only when the post is ready? (and lots of other features) If you set your editor right (fck or telerik) you can have a 1 to 1 styling between the editor and the final page presentation. Anyways, if you use the site as a blog the html module is not the best choice.
