I am looking to integrate commenting on documents (on an intranet built with OWS - OpenWebStudio) with forum activity. Is it reasonable to use the sproc Forum_Post_Add to do this job? Are then any traps to be aware of? I am currently using DNN 4.9.05 with DNN Forum 4.5.03. This is an SQLExpress installation without a SQL profiler so I can't trap user activity to check what happens when users post to the forum. Thanks for any help.

Last week I wrote code to transfer 'forum' to DNN Forum. I use my own sproc witch was wery similar to 'Forum_Post_Add'
then I use next method to increment Thread Views.
Feel free to contact me, my mail is b.waluszko@hotmail.com

I created some SQL Scripts to implement a CommunityServer to DNN Forum conversion.

In doing so I created my own add method that I used, it might be helpful for you as well. You can find the scripts on codeplex

The Proc can be found in the first script if I recall correctly

Thanks Bartlomiej and Chris - I'll explore these options - very helpful.

FYI: As of 5.0 there is a public API method meant for adding posts in a class called PostConnector. This was built to allow posts to be added with no worry of moderation/permissions. It assumes whatever is using the method has handled authentication (one way or another) and also assumes you know the user too (which means its not good for migrating data unless the user base is the same).
